Working Groups

GAIE may establish member working groups to advance specific initiatives (e.g., standards, benchmarking, grid operations, sustainability, safety assurance). Working groups operate under written guidelines, including antitrust/competition and intellectual property rules.

Example 1: GAIE may convene a Standards Working Group focused on solid-state transformers, including interoperability requirements, testing/benchmark protocols, safety considerations, and recommended deployment practices.

Example 2: GAIE may convene a Standards Working Group focused on AI data center energy (power) architecture, including reference architectures for high-density AI loads, power delivery and conversion (AC/DC and DC/DC), redundancy and reliability (e.g., N+1 and 2N considerations), on-site generation and storage integration, demand response and grid-interactive controls, measurement/telemetry and reporting interfaces, and safety and cybersecurity requirements.
